The XXIII Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding Competitions named after Andrey Sevenyuk took place on Mt. Tumannaya in Tashtagol. This year, 14 teams competed for the title of the best. SGMK's team showed significant growth, both in terms of athletic achievements and the number of athletes. 24 skiers and 16 snowboarders started in the races.
"The EVRAZ corporate alpine skiing and snowboarding competitions in memory of Andrey Sevenyuk are one of the brightest sporting events in the region, bringing together hundreds of miners and metalworkers on the slopes of Mt. Tumannaya. SGMK and EVRAZ are not only reliable business partners but also active participants in this sports brotherhood. Right here on the course, we demonstrate the same high pace that we do in production, turning the competition into a true celebration of fortitude and team unity. I truly cherish that we all gather here every year — with colleagues, family, and children. This year, SGMK was joined by our partners from the Urals, the Ashinskiy Metallurgical Plant. In moments like these, the boundaries of the office disappear: we're just people united by a common purpose. We're here to energize each other and share the joy of victory. As always, I'm cheering for SGMK. I wish everyone great results and safe runs," said Denis Kraev, CEO of JSC SGMK .
For the SGMK team, this tournament is first and foremost about team unity, born from movement and competitive spirit: a shared goal, joint training, and mutual support all help drive them forward. "The only thing higher than the mountains is the team spirit. And this energy is the main trophy on the path to a common victory," believes Dmitry Ushakov, captain of the SGMK team.
At the competitions, just like at work, Dmitry Ushakov values discipline and perseverance in people. Before the runs, he constantly reminded the athletes of the main rule: "The most important thing is no injuries." And the team delivered — not only did they navigate the challenging course (which had an icy crust under the snow) without injury, but they also achieved impressive results.
Anton Rybkin, Deputy CEO for Commerce at JSC SGMK, took second place in the individual alpine skiing event in his subgroup.
Team captain Dmitry Ushakov also performed excellently in snowboarding, securing second place in his subgroup as well.
"The SGMK team took an honorable 7th place overall, scoring 469.49 points. I'm very pleased with the result," sums up team captain Dmitry Ushakov. "I sincerely congratulate every athlete on the team. This is our collective victory, and I'm proud of how we performed!"
